Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs
Medicine County

[Damaged Goods; March 29]

This third album from Holly Golightly and sidekick Lawyer Dave is their most rollicking yet. Recorded in an abandoned church nearby their new home in the rural county of Madison, Georgia, the punningly-titled set was assembled during a rare patch of peace and quiet for the prolific Golightly – unlike 2008’s Dirt Don’t Hurt, which they laid down in a Spanish studio in the middle of a tour – giving the duo more time to pick and choose the songs that made the final cut. “It was a case of [the fast songs] being the ones that stood out as the ones we wanted to put on it. Having a bit more time made it different,” Holly told Spinner in a recent interview. As well as eight new originals, the album features a cover of Wreckless Eric’s ‘Murder In My Mind’ and traditional numbers like ‘Jack O’Diamonds’ and ‘Blood On The Saddle’, on which Tom Heinl guests.
