Viv Albertine
Flesh EP

[Ecstatic Peace!; March 1]

Punk icon Viv Albertine, formerly of The Slits, releases her debut solo EP, Flesh, on March 1 through Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace! label. Spurred on by the recent Slits reunion, which she quit after playing just two gigs, Viv picked up her Telecaster for the first time in 25 years and began to compose her own material. As she told Wears The Trousers in an interview last year, “Back came all my feelings for the guitar. And songs just started to come out.” Four of those songs, which are a long way from the harsh sounds of old, can be found on the new EP.

Viv’s upcoming gig schedule includes a show at The Gladstone, SE1, this Thursday and a Haiti benefit at London venue The Foundry on January 27, with extra dates in Bristol, Cardiff, Oxford and London in February and an appearance at the Matt Greoning-curated ATP festival at Minehead on May 7. Keep an eye on her Myspace for more.
