Twin Sister
‘I Want A House’

Proving impossible to pigeonhole, Twin Sister’s music presents a scrapbook of genres and influences. Their sound is largely chilled but still manages to channel that anxious, industrial feeling reminiscent of Portishead and Massive Attack. Vocalist Andrea Estella transforms from Karen O crooning (think more ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ than Fever To Tell) to Kimya Dawson-style storytelling, creating her own unique along the way. This NYC crew, completed by Eric Cardona, Gabel D’Amico, Udbhav Gupta and Bryan Ujueta, are currently offering a free download of their debut EP Vampires With Dreaming Kids, from which ‘I Want A House’ is lifted. Although slow, it isn’t melancholy, and frames Twin Sister as the Big Apple’s answer to The xx, beginning with a startling, heartbeat-mimicking drum beat and Andrea’s meandering vocals (though other tracks on the EP explore a heavier sound). If you like what you hear as much as we think you will, then be glad at the news that Infinite Best Recordings will release a brand new six-song EP, Color Your Life, in March. MP3 after the jump.
