People we are jealous of today: anyone attending Yoko Ono’s eye-popping show at the Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn on February 16. Those lucky Americans (and, no doubt, people who will have travelled from all over the world) will not only get to see last year’s Plastic Ono Band album Between My Head & The Sky come to life on the stage, they’ll also get to witness perhaps the most unusual collection of musical guests ever to amass upon the same stage. There will, of course, be regular collaborators Sonic Youth, Cornelius, Yuka Honda and Sean Lennon, as well as producer Mark Ronson, but add in the likes of Bette Midler, Martha Wainwright, Scissor Sisters, Eric Clapton and Paul Simon and you have something majorly out of the ordinary going on. Like we said, JEALOUS.

In other Ono news, she recently announced plans to write an autobiography, undoubtedly revealing a few long-guarded secrets of her famous marriage to John Lennon. The news comes as somewhat of a surprise considering her notorious silence on certain aspects of her life with Lennon, whom she married in 1969 and lived with up until his untimely death in 1980. Lennon’s first wife Cynthia Powell has been more forthcoming about her own marriage to Lennon, having published two books on their time together. Her willingness to divulge intimate details has only helped to contrast with Ono’s silence, which is now set to be broken. Yoko had spoken on her hesitancy to reveal all back in 2007, saying “There are things that I can’t write because it may hurt someone. I think about how it might hurt (their) children, and I don’t want to do that”, but time has obviously quelled some of these anxieties, since the 76 year old now hopes to have this project inked and printed in the next five years, noting that the only obstacles now are “finding the time to write it”.
