Speaking to Paste magazine, Kate Nash has revealed that her forthcoming second album is “inspired by women”. Having spent most of the last year purposefully tucked away out of the public eye – “Being a person. Getting a flat. Buying a bunny rabbit. Passing my driving test”, not to mention lobbying on behalf of the Featured Artists Coalition – she’s had plenty of time to listen to music. But it’s not the modern stuff that’s caught her ears. The article reveals that Kate has been listening ’60s girl-groups and riot grrl bands, inspiring her to try to “mix The Supremes and Bikini Kill” to create a new for herself. The first single has already been decided. That’ll be ‘Do-Wah-Do’, which Paste describe as “a flailing rocker with a Motown beat and lyrics about boys blindly falling for a ‘shady’ girl”. They also mention a song called ‘Kiss That Girl’, described as “an aggressive Little Eva update”.
