Blood Red Shoes
Fire Like This

[V2/Co-op; March 1]

This second album from Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell borrows even more heavily from the aesthetics of the American DIY punk rock era. Recorded to analogue tape at The Motor Museum in Liverpool with producer Mike Crossey, the songs have been left in their rawest forms with the “bare minimum” of overdubs. “We wanted to make a record that’s heavier and more adventurous than the first album and ended up with something that feels a lot darker and eerie,” says Steven. “It has more complex song structures and intricate guitar parts than before. We really tried to push ourselves as vocalists and not hide behind lots of overdubs, I think because of that it’s more personal and more real too.” First single ‘Light It Up’ is out February 22.
