Welcome back to Kelis. Three years on from the failure of her fourth album to set the charts alight – certainly not to the satisfaction of her label Jive Records, who subsequently dropped the singer from their roster – Billboard.com has revealed that the ‘Milkshake’ singer recently signed a new deal with Interscope Records through will.i.am Music Group. The news follows the emergence of a David Guetta-produced retro-sounding dance track ‘Acapella’, ‘leaked’ by Kelis via Twitter last week. It was later revealed that the song was about her newborn son, Knight, who arrived in July.

“I love that I am now a new part of the Interscope family,” said Kelis in a statement. “2010 is around the corner and I can’t wait to put out new music and spend time with real music fans on tour again.” As well as Guetta, the as-yet-untitled Interscope album is said to feature production work from Boyz Noize, Burnz, DJ Ammo, Free School and, inevitably, will.i.am. Previous reports have suggested the involvement of songwriter Guy Chambers, Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo Green and Calvin Harris.
