The deceptively plural Dum Dum Girls (essentially the solo project of Kristin Gundred, or Dee Dee as she likes to be known) signed to legendary Seattle-based label Sub Pop back in July following a pair of acclaimed EPs and a tasty 7″ vinyl, promising a debut album to come in the first half of 2010. Making good on that promise, Sub Pop have announced that said album will be released on March 30, and goes by the name of I Will Be.

The 11-track album was co-produced by Dee Dee and Richard Gottehrer, who has previously worked with the liked of Blondie, The Go-Gos and, more recently, The Raveonettes. Described as “neither lo-fi nor too polished” the album is billed as “a short tribute to love, fun and the classic pop form of the ’60s girl groups and early punk rockers.” The album includes Dee Dee’s celebrated cover of Sonny & Cher’s ‘Baby Don’t Go’, which you can download for free over at Gorilla vs. Bear.

I Will Be
01 It Only Takes One Night
02 Bhang Bhang, I’m a Burnout

07 Blank Girl
08 I Will Be
