It’s a bold move to omit the two singles that first brought them to our attention, but London-based dance-pop trio Chew Lips don’t seem too fazed by it, keeping their debut album Unicorn nice and succinct with just 10 tracks. Out January 25 through French electronica label Kitsuné, the album was produced by David Kosten (Bat For Lashes, Joseph Arthur) and is full of inventive samples and unusual sounds that ought to please casual listeners and electronica musos alike. Speaking to Canvas magazine, frontwoman Tigs described the album as “a body of work [that is] going to differentiate us from a lot of the people we’ve been unfairly compared to – it’s future classic pop.” She also revealed that the album contains some of the first ever songs the band wrote together, having reportedly hammered out 18 tracks over their first weekend as a unit. Two tracks from the album, ‘Seven’ and ‘Slick’ have already been made available as free downloads from the band’s website. If you’re quick, you can still grab ‘Slick’, though it will cost you your email address.
