‘The Be Colony/Dashing Home/What Took You So Long’
If you’ve missed this much loved UK band, fear not, they’re atoning for the years spent away with some pretty tasty tour dates in December, a freshly pressed mini album, a new tour-only EP and a full-length following some time next year. Having been distressingly quiet since 2005’s playful Tender Buttons and 2006’s rarities compilation The Future Crayon, this is what we call returning in style. Today’s free track, ‘The Be Colony/Dashing Home/What Took You So Long’ allows us to delve into the mini album first. Dubbed Broadcast & The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults Of The Radio Age, it’s a collaborative effort with friends The Focus Group (of the Ghost Box collective), and is available digitally now. This track is suitably difficult to transcribe into adjectives, but is nowhere near as epic sounding as its title. Trish Keenan’s dreamy vocals gleam alongside a morphing, electroacoustic soundtrack, a little fleeting but totally daydream worthy.
Broadcast are to perform as a duo for their upcoming tour, playing songs from the soundtrack to the Ghost Box film ‘Winter Sun Wavelengths’ as well as road testing some new songs from their forthcoming album and dropping selections from Witch Cults…, which receives a full CD/vinyl release on October 26th. Be sure to grab a copy of the tour-only EP (Mother Is The Milky Way) mentioned earlier, and if you missed them the first time round, the band will also be selling a limited amount of previous EPs Microtronics Vol 1& 2. Bonus. MP3 after the jump.
