ex vivian girls member frankie rose quits crystal stilts

Frankie Rose, fast becoming known as the free spirit (aka swinger) of Brooklyn’s lo-fi indie scene, has officially split from minimalist punk act Crystal Stilts in order to form yet another dashingly cool all-girl band in the vein of her former outfit Vivian Girls. With a MySpace page already up, Frankie & The Outs list Kate Ryan, Margot Bianca, Leona Renee Ross, Caroline Yes! and leader of the pack Frankie as official band members. It’s unclear who plays what, but it’s probably safe to say that Frankie is still doing her thing for girls on percussion everywhere.

The quintet describe themselves as garage/minimalist/pop and count The Shangri-Las, Spaceman 3 and The Urinals as inspiration, but curiosity remains tantalisingly unsatisfied as the only track currently available for streaming is an early demo of the Vivian Girls number ‘Where Do You Run To’, a somewhat controversial choice considering bridges have yet to be rebuilt with Frankie’s former bandmates. This most recent split can’t have been too bitter, however, since two of the three live dates that Frankie & The Outs have up on their calendar are supporting slots for Crystal Stilts.

With the ink on official statements only just drying, Frankie has already announced the release of a 7″ solo single, ‘Thee Only One’ b/w ‘Hollow Life’, out through Slumberland Records on October 26th, with a 7″ split with Dum Dum Girls also in the works. What a fast mover.
