‘Passionate Introverts (Dinosaurs)’

Hailing from Philadelphia, and with a slightly perplexing name, A Sunny Day In Glasgow gather together hazy synths and samples, with guitars and some rather pleasant harmonies to form their robust and confident stylings. They like big sounds, and they make big music, yes they do. Towering soundscapes prevail over sweet, echoing vocals; these aren’t songs, they’re atmospheres. After forming in 2006, the band have released a critically acclaimed debut album, 2007’s Scribble Mural Comic Journal, plus a small slew of EPs and singles. Their second full-length, Ashes Grammar, lands upon our shores September 28th.

At a first listen, this preview track sounds oddly similar to clips you might hear on adverts for the ‘Chilled Euphoria’ albums. Strange. What’s stranger is that this is not necessarily a bad thing. The lingering intro, inoffensive beat and effectively layered vocals are more than enticing, the lulling synth sounds enjoyable, without being cheesy. ‘Passionate Introverts (Dinosaurs)’ is perfect for distracting yourself on the tube, putting you in a wide open space and away from the guys guzzling Stella and annoying strangers, but it would sound even better at 5am, having just come home and arguing with your flatmate about who’s making breakfast. Everyone’s a winner really. MP3 after the jump.
