fmf_batforlashesRelease to coincide with Mercury awards

Special edition re-releases arouse both suspicion and enthusiasm in fans, mainly because they generally fall into two categories: chug-chug money-spinners making a last lap for albums that didn’t quite hit target profits, or genuine treasures that build on their initial offerings like bonus numbers on a winning lottery ticket. We’re firmly on the approving side with this one though. Bat For Lashes’ Mercury-nominated (and five-star Wears The Trousers reviewed) second album Two Suns has barely left the stereo since its release April release this year, and rising steadily on its wave of success comes a special 2CD/DVD edition, due out on September 7th – the day before the overall winner of the 2009 Barclaycard Mercury Prize is announced. The original 11-track album will be joined by an 8-song bonus CD, including the previously iTunes-only ‘Wilderness’, covers of Kings Of Leon and The Cure, remixes and live recordings, while the DVD contains a 48-minute visual feast of behind-the-scenes footage captured during the album’s conception. Also on the same day, the album’s third single ‘Sleep Alone’ will be released on 7″ and as a digital download.

As previously reported, Bat For Lashes have another UK tour lined up for October.
