jenny owen youngs unveils new side project, bell horses

170809_jennyowenyoungsDebut album out in October

With her bleepy electronica side project The Robot Explosion seemingly on a prolonged hiatus, US singer-songwriter Jenny Owen Youngs has taken up with another gang of like-minded individuals to form a new band, Bell Horses. Counting among their number recording mastermind Xian Hawkins (aka 4AD signing Sybarite) and ex-Northern Territories man [John] Alexander Ericson, with support from The Antlers’ drummer Michael Lerner and classical string player Eve Boltax, the band take their name from the title of a traditional children’s song from the late 1800s/early 1900s, depending on who you ask. Their debut album This Loves Last Time is self-released through Trysquare Records on October 13th and features eight thickly atmospheric, “experimentally inclined” songs that were mostly recorded, arranged and mixed by Hawkins in a converted Victorian church, with additional tracking done over email via London, Brooklyn and Berlin.

You can stream the whole album over on Myspace now.
