Both versions out October 5th110809_cerysmatthews

Having wisely ditched the clumsy working title of Betty Blue – The Not So Torrid Affairs Of A Reluctant Housekeeper, Cerys Matthews has rechristened her upcoming fourth solo release the rather less evocative but certainly easier to say Don’t Look Down, out October 5th through Rainbow City Records. The ex-Catatonia frontwoman turned BBC 6Music radio presenter has produced two different versions of the album – one in English and another in her native Welsh – and will release them as separate discs. The album was recorded all over the place – in London, Nashville, Seattle and Providence, Rhode Island – and finds Cerys once again working with a stellar cast of musicians. A UK tour has been announced for mid to late October to coincide with the album’s release and will take the format of two full performances with no support act, except in London where Alessi’s Ark will open the Union Chapel show. On these dates, Cerys will be joined by Nashville musicians Kevin Teel, who co-produced Cerys’s 2006 album Never Said Goodbye, and Mason Neely, who co-produced her 2007 Welsh-language mini-album Awyren=Aeroplane.

Those tour dates in full:

17.10.09 Mwldan Theatre, Cardigan
18.10.09 The Torch, Milford Haven
19.10.09 St George’s, Bristol
21.10.09 Union Chapel, London [with Alessi’s Ark]
