250609_theagilmoreArtist announces unlikely foray into the Christmas album market

And so it begins. Just three days into July and we’re already bringing you news of Christmas releases. The UK’s very own Thea Gilmore is the one to kick off the silly season with her second album of the year – a rather unlikely figure for this sort of thing, you might think, but Thea stresses hard that anyone holding their breath for “seasonal cheese, Slade singalongs or fake snow” should avoid her “uniquely Gilmore-esque take on the festive season” that will manifest itself on Strange Communion and on the accompanying Wintertide tour. Recording is ongoing so we can’t bring you many more details than that, other than to say that Thea promises some surprises on the album.

Surprises are also in store for the 19-date tour that kicks off on November 22nd in Nottingham and finishes up just before Christmas on December 21st in Chester, barely pausing for breath to celebrate her 30th birthday on November 25th. Of the tour, Thea says to expect new songs based on the theme of Winter and Christmas with “some inspired and unlikely cover versions slipped in” and, for some dates at least, surprise guests. Wears The Trousers is taking bets on the chances that ‘December In New York’ from her under-the-radar As If EP makes an appearance. Love that song (cough cough hint hint).

In other Thea news, her previously reported ‘Angels In The Abattoir’ subscription service will officially be launched in a few weeks, with a brand new website to come too.

Here’s the full Wintertide tour itinerary. Tickets are on sale now.
