041008_paramoreCopies of Hayley Williams’s lyrics journal to be included in deluxe edition bundles

After months of speculation, US rockers Paramore have finally confirmed the details of their forthcoming third album brand new eyes, and fans who splash out on one of the limited deluxe edition boxsets have plenty to look forward to. Released on September 29th, the long-awaited follow-up to the million-selling Riot! will offer 15,000 lucky buyers an unbeatable fan experience that includes a 40-page hardcover journal containing copies of frontwoman Hayley Williams’s handwritten lyrics sheets and album notes, a coloured vinyl 7″ of four acoustic songs, a DVD featuring an exclusive ‘making-of’ documentary, a 16-page full-colour booklet, an exclusive poster, five limited edition Paramore photos printed on special paper, and a numbered certificate of authenticity. The deluxe edition is available to pre-order from July 7th, and is only available through the band’s official website.

Okay, so those are the extras. What about the music? Written during Williams’s documented battles with self-doubt and produced by Rob Cavallo (Jewel, Avril Lavigne), the 11 songs are said to range from slow to fast, happy to angry, and desperate to over it. The first single, ‘Ignorance’ is out next week, the same day as pre-orders for the album start. On the subject of the album’s title, Williams recently told MTV News that it was originally the name of a song earmarked for the album. “It was one of the first songs we put together, and it just didn’t work out…the lyric was originally really sad and negative. It was, ‘I lost all my friends since they got brand new eyes.’ But we didn’t use the song, [and we] stole the lyric because we liked the sound of it. Basically, the concept is, ‘In order for our band to move on to whatever’s next — and also us personally, as individuals, in order to grow up — [we needed to start] seeing each other, seeing everything, in a whole new perspective. Just trying to let go of whatever we might have struggled with the past and just see each other in a new way.” “It just felt so right, right away,” added bassist Jeremy Davis.

Other titles considered for the album were ‘Misguided Ghost’ (a song that made the final cut) and ‘The Backwards Race’. “[That] was a pretty good one, I got to admit,” says Williams. “But from very early on, we knew what we were going to call this album. We really felt like brand new eyes just felt right.”
