New three-song EP out now

Good news! Swedish twin sisters Miriam and Johanna Berhan, collectively known as Taxi Taxi!, have completed the recording of the debut album we’ve been anticipating for the last couple of years. Produced by Johan Berthling (Tape, Häpna Records), the as-yet-untitled full-length will be released through Danish label Rumraket in the autumn. A three-track EP, Step Out Into The Light, has just had a digital release in Scandinavia (also through Rumraket, in collaboration with Tigerspring) and features two new Taxi Taxi! recordings and a cover of their song ‘Belle’ (from 2007’s self-titled EP) by Bella Union signing Peter Broderick.

Having now graduated from high school, the teen sisters clearly have the growing up process on their minds. Lead track ‘More Childish Than In A Long Time’ features the lyrics “more mature than ever I’m thinking of marriage and kids”, delivered in a way that’s both nostalgic and mournful, while Daniel Johnston’s beautifully optimistic ‘True Love Will Find You In The End’ gets the Taxi Taxi! treatment in style. The EP will be available on iTunes soon, but it’s up already on Klicktrack if you’d rather have it now. You can listen to ‘More Childish…’ over on the band’s Myspace.
