trouser shorts: laura marling, bat for lashes, the dead weather


Short notice amazingness. Laura Marling will play a 30-minute set tonight at new London venue The Flowerpot. Entry is free, but get there early to avoid disappointment. She’ll be on at 10pm. In other Laura news, she’ll start recording the follow-up to Alas I Cannot Swim – Wears The Trousers readers’ #1 album of 2008 – in a fortnight.

The Dead Weather, the new band formed by Alison Mosshart of The Kills and The White Stripes’ Jack White, have announced their debut UK show. The band will perform at the Forum in London’s Kentish Town on June 24th. Their debut album Horehound is released on July 13th through White’s own imprint Third Man and major label Columbia. Two-time Wears The Trousers interviewee Rose Elinor Dougall will launch her second post-Pipettes single ‘Start/Stop/Synchro’ at ace London venue The Luminaire on June 8th. Tickets are £5 + booking fee and on sale already through We Got Tickets. Release details here.
