iyb_lovelyeggsDebut album out in June

Since they turned in one of our most loved EPs of 2008 and subsequently charmed us silly at Ladyfest Manchester, The Lovely Eggs have fast become a staple on the Wears The Trousers office stereo. Six songs only go so far though, so we were very happy to get a copy of their debut album If You Were Fruit in the post last week. Happy to say our love affair hasn’t soured one iota, it’s every bit as joyously deranged.

If You Were Fruit features a dozen new songs plus the previous singles ‘Have You Ever Heard A Digital Accordion?’ and ‘I Like Birds (But I Like Other Animals Too)’ and is released through Manchester-based Cherryade Records on June 1st. The same week, Holly and David will set off on a short UK tour with fellow Ladyfest alumna Hotpants Romance (for the full list of dates see their Myspace). The album’s lead track, ‘Sexual Cowboy’, will be released as a single at some point, while US fans will be able to buy the album later in the year when it gets a Stateside release through the Happy Happy Birthday To Me label. They’ll also tour over there.
